Interior Painting Process

Room Preparation
Removing all electrical cover plates
Remove window hardware
Protect floor, appliances with plastic
remove all hardware from the surfaces to be painted as an example: door knobs, strike plate at the latch
Put a tape on the crownmolding, floor division to avoid stains
protect all floor with plastic

After the prep work, the room's surfaces should be painted in this order:

If you are going to prime paint first, prime the ceiling first, then the walls and trim;
Finish paint the ceiling;
Finish paint the walls;
Finish paint the baseboard trim;
Finish paint the door and door trim
Finish paint the windows.
